Homestead

Project overview

Having grown up in the region and on rural properties it was always a dream of Grant’s to build on rural land. Being a builder himself he always had a particular style of houses he wanted to build, constantly drawing floor plans and creating concepts in line with this.

Along his building career he was able to pick apart all the pro’s and con’s in particular builds and building materials and bring his learnings into this build.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges at the concept of the build was having too many ideas and trying to find continuity in the build and finishes.

With many idea’s and having a particular style, Grant had his own set of challenges having to value engineer certain areas of the build when it came to material and finishes.

Solutions

To help compile all of Grant’s ideas and concepts, we engaged with an interior designer Resident Avenue from the design brief and consultation their team managed to seamlessly streamline all of our ideas and also further challenged Grant with material selections and design.

Keeping budget in mind Grant had to dive deep into how he was going to deliver this project, constantly creating the details and then collaborating with his trades and plan how they were going to achieve the end result.

Outcome

Grant describes the house as very warm, we have large living spaces that are all enjoyable to be in when friends and family visit. The house is robust and the elements of the house are a true reflection of grants taste and represents a true country living experience.
